Built a SWEET Light Table!

Description

EDIT: Since this thing is filed under the loose "Deviant ID" category anyway, I attached a second pic so that I can use BOTH on my profile. :paranoid: It's a selfie from yesterday, 8/8/17, showing-off the first time I ever tied a Ronin Musubi style sageo-knot. :happybounce:

So I built this giant ultra funky color-changing light table and started building my newest (and as yet unreleased) papercraft, while video recording it all, and just got too excited about how the footage is turning out to hold it in. :excited: It's going to be like this nearly-three-year-old video, but polished this time: youtu.be/FOcLy6gpP9s

Maybe the video will be finished in about two weeks?

Breaking temporarily away from my recent streak, it's not Dark Souls related. But I built this table intending to make many more similar vids in the near future, INCLUDING one where I build my wearable Sunlight Maggot papercraft and another where I build my life-size Abyss Greatsword papercraft. Plotting -revised- I mean, if I'm going to build them anyway, might as well make a production out of it, right? 8-) At the very least, so I can prove on the internet in front of everyone that these very complex templates CAN actually be built.

Recently had a conversation with my uncle---who makes Halo armor using molds n' stuff---where he recounted looking at a Halo papercraft template, seeing the edges numbered up into at least the 300s, and basically thinking to himself "NOPE!". As soon as he had said "three-hundred something", I interrupted him with laughter and called him a casual. .....maybe that's why he gave me such a hard time later? about claiming to be designing all this stuff on the computer (which is in fact, but he doesn't understand is, a very time-consuming process) and yet never actually building it. Or, in his words, "doing anything", as in anything at all. Not Amused

I think he imagines me downloading models off of Thingiverse, as he does, and just feeding them through an automatic converter that only takes a second to create 2D templates; such a function does exist in Pepakura, but I never use it because it's inefficient and eats through paper faster than Cookie Monster reading a Pillsbury catalogue. See how nice and compact my templates are compared to others out there on the web? That's because every single one is hand-done. Nor do I even go near Thingiverse; what I can't hack directly from the source game, I 3D-model myself (in kHED of all studios) thankyouverymuch.

The thing I'm building in this picture has edges numbering at least into the fourteen-hundreds----that's right, 1400s----and the finished model will only be 25.125 inches tall. I'd say, "Hay, that's something!', but really that made the pieces so darn small they practically ARE "nothing"!

For people like my uncle, I'll have to create a simplified version of this model (something I 3D-modelled myself in kHED) to make ever completing it reasonably attainable before I can release it.... Case in point: just over three years ago I created my Zar'roc Sword of Morzan the Betrayer papercraft as a gift for my cousin, and I just found out a week or so ago that he STILL hasn't finished building it! :noes: :shake sword:

I'm just building the hardcore version because, well, if even *I* won't, who will?! Crazy
