Most awesome room lighting for playing Dead Space

My younger bro just got me several whole game series, and we finally made use of these blue Christmas lights I put up in his room two or three years ago, while I no-lifed demolished the "Dead Space" trilogy. :iconpsplagamerplz:  He has several very large framed posters and a floor-to-ceiling mirrored closet door in his room, which all reflected the lights at different angles multiple times over and created a beautiful resemblance to stars. What's more, in person, that shade of blue closely resembles that of Isaac Clarke's health bar. These lights really made the room feel like an expansion of the screen and enhance the game's idea of being in space... :D

I also had a red party light handy and tried out lighting my bro's room with that for a few hours, but surprisingly it didn't 'mesh' with the visuals of the game as well as the blue Christmas lights did. It more competed with the visuals of "Dead Space", and eventually just hurt our eyes. I consider myself a rosophobe----someone who is afraid of the color red----and I actually love Horror fiction, so that's why I got the red bulb several months ago in the first place, just to goof around with. Thus, I was really surprised and disappointed that red room lighting didn't make "Dead Space" seem any scarier to me....

BTW.... The reason I'm "afraid of red" is because my childhood was filled with nightmares about apocalyptic volcanoes, all thanks to the "Rite of Spring" sequence in Disney's "Fantasia", and also because of one specific nightmare I had four or five years ago. In the later of which, I was a WWII veteran with PTSD hallucinations (who was aware they were hallucinations) who started to wonder if he was actually dead and in Purgatory; one way or the other, he knew he was cursed, and all because he'd actually done something heroic in the war that had saved thousands of innocent lives. (Infiltrated a fortress and released its prisoners before the enemy blew it up themselves.) The hallucinations were simply that anything liquid appeared to be blood: rain outside, water flowing from a sink faucet that someone had left running, morning dew on a playground, and even the moisture in food. Specifically, there was this cake that looked like a blanched tomato...... And my character wondered if he would hallucinate the taste of blood as well the next time he had to eat or drink, struggling to imagine how he could possibly act normal eating in front of other people.... Yeah, as I played "Dead Space", nutty ol' Issac had my deepest sympathies. :saddestthingintheworld ...Once, I wanted to make Steampunk pilot goggles with ruby-red lenses, but once I painted the lenses, wearing them made me inexplicably nervous----beyond the level that even a hardened Horror fan such as moi would consider fun. :o_O I still want those goggles, so maybe I'll dig out the pieces and try 'em on again; no sense being obstructed by a memory of a dream about an illusion created by something that never even happened. Courage - NaNoEmo14 Day 16 ....right? :sadtwitch:

It's possible that the red party light I have is just slightly the wrong shade of red. It seems vaguely magenta, like a strawberry Jolly Rancher, whereas, I would say, scary blood-red has more orange in it.

I'm using a 'fourth-hand' laptop at the moment because my 12-year-old Dell finally died. But, I've already picked up a new (well, used) PC, and as soon as it's set up, I'm playing my bro's PC copy of "DS: Awakened". :typerhappy: ....And then hacking all muh new games for papercraft models!!! :evillaugh: revamp Top of muh wishlist for the moment: the toy Ishimura (found the the captain's quarters) and Level 5 RIG from DS1, and both Havel's armor & Brass Set armor, as well as the Balder Shield and Flamberge, from "Dark Souls". :plotting: I'm sure that I would be geeking out hardcore over "Bloodbourne" right about now, but my bro and I don't have a PS4; until just last month, we've never even had a PS3. First-world problem, yes, but in 2015 I'd say playing HD re-releases on a 25-year-old tube TV because you blew all your savings on all refurbished console gear just to be able to play at all is starting to resemble a first-and-a-half-world problem... Which is what you get when you try to look at your problems like they're not really that bad, only for your optimism to backfire and expose that they actually are pretty bad...
