Project Folly - Plushies Batch 1

I decided to go back and design more steampunk plushies for Gabrielle Joan U.'s wunderkammer.

So there I was.......already failing epically at my three-drawings-a-day-for-two-months self-challenge.......when my bro went and bought me "Dark Souls". I'm already Level 53.

........But then, last night this morning, I magically spat out NINE drawings in two hours! What the heck! (the last two didn't make the cut)

In the end, I want at least two-dozen plushie designs. After all, a wunderkammer is a (19th century) walk-in display case that usually looks like Dorothy's tornado hit it.

Because, again, the whole purpose of "Project Folly" (a Steampuk short film I'm making) was to write a story that would inspire me to design original papercrafts and sewing patterns, since I always seem to do my best creative work when it pertains to the larger context of a story. (And I needed to get away from fanfiction!) My character Gabrielle here, the plushie-hoarder, is a great example of how this is working miracles for me. I never would have thought of her style of costume wings (which I've grown crazy about) were it not for trying to portray her whimsical personality, nor of designing these adorably ridiculous stuffed creatures, which are also for portraying her personality. This character made these ideas happen! All summed up, "Project Folly" is my creative catalyst.

So, yeah, I'll eventually design patterns with which to sew these, and then put them up for download. I'll try to make them not too difficult to sew, but Victorian clothing does have a certain intrinsic complexity that can hardly be avoided....


Oh, btw, my chicken-scratch notes are translated as follows:
"Nobody rocks the corset like an invertebrate! "
"Lace folding fan!" (the peacock's tail)
"Shotgun shell!" (on the Dieselpunk snail)

I would have written nicer, but I hadn't expected these sketches to turn out well at all.
