Description

Mug is ready for her closeup! Art thou unwimpy enough to download all 6,708px width-ed-ness? Be ye warned, she be not for the age of squinty-eyed smartphones. :evileye:

LOL It's so much fun to mangle English. :XD:

So, yeah, I discovered the webcomic "Romantically Apocalyptic" a few months ago. I really liked that its creator made a printed mug available of the epic Mug in the comic, but peeps in the comments section of the sales page seemed to say that ceramic-ware from DeviantArt is no good. Some Mugs, they said, even arrived broken in the mail. Others shattered in the dishwasher. And, worst of all, DeviantArt discontinued the correct size of mug, and therefore any RA Mugs ordered from DA would be too tall to look screen-accurate, even if kept in perfect condition! :noes:

So, I heeded these wisdoms, and bought a good secondhand mug then painted it myself with special ceramic enamel. I do regret that doing so deprived the comic's creator of any partaking in my green paper. :saddummy: Though, at least, I do intend to buy RA's whole soundtrack. :groove: _revamp_

Besides all that, though, I have a little theory that Mug didn't have that design on it until Zee Captain colored her himself with his markers, since we know that Captain tends to doodle on things.... And, well, my hand-painted Mug just looks so dang legit, that now I'm 98.5325% convinced that that was indeed the case.

And, I kinda didn't even like the official Mug skin Alexius provided in the DA shop... Not to mention, in the comic, Mug's heart faces forward no matter which hand Captain holds it in, which to my interpretation means that there should be a heart on each side. The official, printed Mug has only a single heart, appearing blank black if held in the wrong hand. :noes: On my Mug, I made both hearts slightly different from each other as well, on purpose, because the very shape and coloration of the heart is vaguely inconsistent throughout the comic, due to the artist's loose digital painting technique. However, specifically, I based both on the album cover of O Captein! My Captein!. The heart facing out if Mug is held in the right hand is slightly more accurate to this reference. The other is more simplified, and a smidge lopsided.

I'm sure that's more than anyone ever wanted to know about this. But, I like to archive details I'm sure to, and should, forget about long-term. Let the dust collecting begin! :dummy:

i should seen this before buying the actual mug.
I just got it in the mail and not only is it a stupidly tall mug but its rounded at the bottom rather than flat like this one and the

one that appears in the comics, AND theres a weird yellow smudge going down the side of it and on the inside... sortof looks like it got some type of gorilla glue on it then was wiped off.
ill definitely be trying this out.
also where the

heart was placed in the middle you can only see the heart if holding it like a gun.
each side of the mug is solid black so from a traditional "im holding a mug" position, all you see is half a heart
