Description
Our front door has been enduring the dry desert temperatures and wild summer monsoon storms for about a decade, and was looking rather crispy..... So, in prep for the comming rains, I gave it a rough coat of dark stain and polyurothane. When I thought I was done, the door just screamed for something extra, and lo I just hapopened to have an extra large brass lion head pendant from Joannes that I had bought for no particular reason. So, I attached that with a blob of foam mountaing squares.
An easy project, but I'm just in love with the finished result!
The stain was "Mission Oak"-gloss, from Poly Shades. I'm no expert by any means, but I've always had good luck with that stuff----I spilled half a quart of black gloss of the same type on the cement in our back yard, and got it all up with only half a cup of baby oil!!! ...which I also use to clean my brushes.
Tell me--------is it redneck to use spray-vegetable oil on wood when you can't find your Old English? I can't decide because I serriously doubt rednecks would have a use for Old English to begin with.
Oh what a conundrum.
