Through the Night

Yay! I always wanted to be a storm chaser! But on foot is probably a bad idea....

It's monsoon season here in Tucson, which means it rains a lot and often LOOKS LIKE FRANKENSTEIN'S APERTURE OUTSIDE!!!!!!!

Since I don't own a tripod or know how to set my camera for a prolonged exposure, I video recorded at 60fps for about an hour. The lightning has been striking continuously since 10:00 last night, and it is now exactly 6:00am!! I was up all night, so I can swear by it. We're talking between 5 and 10 strikes per minute, more or less audible; My dad and I were at the store when the storm hit, and there the lightning was so close that there was almost NO delay between flash and thunder!!! (They set off several car alarms in the parking lot!)

A shot of my neighbor's flag pole. I never met the guy, therefore we just call him "the guy with the helicopter in his back yard". We can see it over the wall. He's been working on it for at least two, maybe three years. Nifty eh?
